Stowaway spider is believed to have camouflaged itself among bunch of bananas, and travelled nearly 5,000 miles to London
A MAN was left gaping in shock after a terrifying exotic spider crawled out of a bunch of bananas he was eating.
The horrified Londoner, who lives in Brent, called the RSPCA after noticing the 5cm creature scuttle out of the bunch of bananas on Tuesday.

Stowaway spider … exotic arachnid could have survived a journey of over 5,000 miles to get to London
Experts believe the spider could have survived a journey of over 5,000 miles from Colombia, where the bananas came from.
Speaking on the discovery, RSPCA officer Jill Sanders told the Evening Standard the spider’s bright yellow and orange colouring could have allowed it to camouflage itself in the bunch of bananas perfectly.
Sanders, who took the spider to Heathrow Animal Reception Centre, said the arachnid must have made itself at home.

She added:“I understand the fruit had been imported from Colombia so I would imagine this little critter had stowed away in the box and travelled more than 5,000 miles to London.
“We are unsure of the species but have asked an expert to identify it.”
Susie Pritchard, deputy manager at Heathrow Animal Reception Centre, said the creature is yet to be identified, but explained it resembles other spiders sometimes found in banana packaging.

For the time being, it is being housed in secure container in the centre, along with a number of other stowaways.
Pritchard said: “We will keep it until we find a suitable spider enthusiast who might like it, or it will live out its days here with us.”
The RSPCA urges Brits who come across exotic creatures to call their 24-hour hotline on 0300 1234 999.
